ARTIST STATEMENT
cut down, blown over, splitting at the seams. rotting, crumbling, pecked. sat on, stepped on, stepped over. broken, decaying, and dead. unearthed and Alone.
noticed, picked up, brushed off, carried home. appreciated, honored, and loved. peeled back, exposed, reassembled, transformed. grounded, and connected.
Once dead, now living. I am all stages of these trees. Alive and well.
BIOGRAPHY San Francisco Bay Area born in 1975, Kristina traveled and resided internationally and found that to be the main factor of her love for beautiful things. Moving to Northern Idaho in 2013, she was a product designer and was awarded two U.S. Patents. While residing in the Pacific Northwest, Kristina has spent countless hours in the forest. There she found Earth's perfect beauty from the most large scale to minute findings. Appreciating that all in the forest is alive, some have feathers or fur, berries, leaves or little legs. Learning how to become quiet and truly looking and listening in nature has been transformational, especially in her art. Currently based in Sandpoint, Idaho, Kristina lives happily with her two teenage children and creates art every day.
